Table of Contents

Materials
- White yarn
- A small box or book (about 2" depth and 4" wide) – a greeting card box works well
- Black felt (stiff felt works best if using a hole punch)
- Hole Punch, optional
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
Instructions

Step 1: Start the Ghost Body
- Wrap the white yarn tightly around the box 50 times, keeping it smooth and tight.
- Slide a separate strand of yarn between the box and wrapped yarn. Tie a loose knot.

Step 2: Finish the Ghost Body
- Carefully slide the yarn off the box.
- Replace the loose knot with 2 surgical knots (loop the strand through twice) followed by 1 regular knot.
- Find the loops at the bottom of the yarn bundle and cut through them to create the ghost’s loose ends for the body.

Step 3: Shape the Head
- About 1 inch from the top, tie a strand of yarn around the body to form the ghost’s head.
- Secure it with 2 surgical knots and 1 regular knot at the back.

Step 4: Trim the Ends
Use scissors to trim the bottom of the ghost into a V-shape or straight line, as preferred.

Step 5: Make the Face
- Cut out 3 small black felt circles for each ghost (2 eyes and 1 mouth). If using stiff felt, a hole punch works well.
- Hot glue the felt pieces onto the ghost to make its face.

Step 6: Make the Garland
- After making several ghosts, use a long strand of yarn to string and knot each ghost evenly along the garland.
- If the ghosts don’t lay flat, use hot glue to secure them facing forward.

Kid-Friendly Tips
- Younger kids can help with wrapping yarn and gluing on faces.
- If you don’t want to use a hot glue gun, swap in glue dots or felt stickers.
Display Ideas

- Hang the garland across a mantel, doorway, or on a Halloween party table.
- Tie a single ghost onto a treat bag as a festive tag.
- Drape mini ghosts on houseplants for a playful surprise.
Storage Tip
Store the ghosts in a zip-top bag or box after Halloween—since they’re lightweight yarn, they’ll last for years!
We hope you enjoy this easy Halloween craft! These cute yarn ghosts are simple enough for kids to make and will bring a playful, spooky vibe to your home.
