How to Make a Fox Pumpkin (Step-by-Step)
Paint the Base

Start by painting the pumpkin white using white acrylic paint. Let the first coat dry, then add a second coat. Cut the stem short, if needed.

Once the base coat is dry, paint the top half of your fox pumpkin orange in “mask” shape on the front—this will be your fox’s face. Once it dries, add a second coat of orange paint.
Add Details

Once the white and orange paint are dry, paint a small black nose right where the orange and white meet. Then use a fine brush to paint two closed eyes with black lashes.

Cut out two orange ear triangles and two white inner ears. Glue them together. Then, cut a tail shape from orange felt and add a white tip for the fox's tail.
Attach the Felt Pieces

Use hot glue to attach the tail to the back of the painted fox.

Hot glue the ears to the top of the pumpkin.
Add a Felt Flower and Leaves

Cut scallops out of a strip of felt, then roll and twist it to make a tiny rose, using hot glue as neeed. Glue the rose in front of the stem to cover it.

Cut out two leaf shapes from green felt. Glue them near the stem around the rose for a little pop of color.
Top Tips
- Use two coats of acrylic paint for better coverage—the first coat may not want to stick as well to the pumpkin, but once it dries, your second coat should go on smoothly.
- Start with a white pumpkin if you want to avoid step one (painting the base).
- You can use thick paper or cardstock instead of felt for the fox's ears and tail if you don't have felt handy.
- If you’re doing this with kids, let them use paint markers for the face instead of paint.
- You can make a whole family of fox pumpkins in different pumpkin sizes for your Halloween table or porch.
- Try other woodland animals too (raccoon, owl, or bear, etc) using the same paint and felt design idea.

And that’s it! A cozy, easy craft that turns an ordinary pumpkin into the sweetest little fox.
